STEPMC (Steps to End Poverty of McPherson County) is a county-wide coalition of volunteers organized to facilitate, develop and support leaders in a county-wide CIRCLES Initiative aimed at ending poverty.
The vision of STEPMC is to end poverty one family at a time through the CIRCLES Initiative. CIRCLES creates the framework for people to build relationships across economic and class lines in order to transform lives. CIRCLES is a high impact strategy that will change the mindset of the community so that it wants to end poverty and empower people in poverty to help solve community problems while transitioning out of poverty themselves. Through CIRCLES, everyone in the community can find reasons, relationships, and the resources to thrive.
STEPMC believes it is imperative that social service agencies are no longer left alone to respond to the overwhelming needs of those living in poverty. In order to make a lasting difference, the entire community must become more informed of all the barriers that keep families locked into the cycle of poverty and also become involved through the building of personal relationships with those who have fewer resources.
